When choosing a restorer, be sure he or she practices non-invasive, reversible methods of restoration. No further damage should or need be inflicted upon a piece to create a good repair or restoration. We often come across old repairs that exhibit unnecessary scratching, grinding or even "Dremel" marks made by the previous so-called restorer. Good restoration should be conservation-based and reversible--today's new technologies are sure to be improved upon tomorrow! |

Damage: Broken into several pieces and reglued requiring disassembly, reconstruction, filling, repainting by hand and airbrush and reglazing. ~ Japanese Imari platter. Damage: Having missing detailed edge requiring filling of missing material, repainting, reglazing and gilding. ~ Pair of large Staffordshire Dog Spill Vases mounted as lamps. Damage: Both broken into several pieces, missing large sections of the spills requiring reconstruction, modelling, repainting and reglazing. ............
